“Plain and simple it was men against boys and Emus were just too good.”

Parkes Boars co-coach Paul Moody was under no illusions about his side’s heavy 54-point loss to Orange Emus in the Blowes Clothing Cup last Saturday.
The Boars were totally dominated in the 59-5 loss, the catalyst for a change of selection policy at the club.
“We had two options in front of us,” Moody said.
“We could continue the way we were and work at getting better or we could drastically change our selection policy.
“We have decided on the latter and players will now be selected purely on form.
“Hopefully this will see our best available 15 out on the field each week.
“We had four colts backing up for first grade last week and the rest of the side was pretty young too.
“While they are all good players, they lacked the punch you need against a top side like Emus.
“If we start putting guys on the paddock who are more adept at implementing our plans, we will likely see a marked improvement.
“Hopefully it will be the start of a turnaround in our fortunes,” he said.
The Boars are yet to win a first grade game this season and will go up against a hurting Kangaroos tomorrow after the Dubbo side lost to Mudgee last week.
“It is always a tough trip to Dubbo to take on the Roos,” Moody added.
“We will need to stick to our plans and execute at a high level to claim the points.
“I can’t fault the attitude of the boys.
“They never give up, as evidenced last week against Emus when they scored in the final minute.
“The scoreboard did not reflect the effort and attitude of the team.
“If the boys can keep working hard and support the ball runner, we are a chance tomorrow.
“While you are not winning, nobody is happy.
“It will take a team effort to turn things around.
“We need to make sure our attitude is right all week, not just on game day, if we want to see better results,” he said.
With new recruit Josh Myles still out injured, former Central West scrum half Johnny Rathbone comes into the Boars side.
Dylan Phillips will join Rathbone in the top grade as both players get the call up from the seconds.
Parkes will again be without current Blue Bull Dan Ryan who is unavailable due to work commitments.
