Alyssa was among almost 400 hopefuls who had a crack at becoming Australia’s next X Factor superstar at the Orange Ex-Services Club last weekend.
The line of contestants extended from the waiting room at the club, out the door, around the corner and almost to the top of the stairs as the region’s best talent tried out.
Alyssa said she was contestant 363 and was extremely nervous.
“But it was a good experience all the same,” she said.
“They’re only picking two, so I am not that confident anything will come of it, but it was well worth doing all the same.”
Alyssa said it will be five or six weeks before the final two chosen are notified.
She sang Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen song) on guitar, and her own version of the Dixie Chicks hit, Travelling Soldier (accapella).
Alyssa performed before the show producers only, and admits she would have had to have ‘blown them away’ to get to the next stage.
Judge and producer Digby Mitchell said he was pleased with the talent in Orange.
“Very, very impressed,” he said.
“There has definitely been one or two that deserve to go on to the next stage and see our judges in Sydney.
“The regional tour has been fantastic, the numbers are up and the talent is up as well - everyone is getting really excited about it because we’re visiting towns we’ve never been to before.”
The X Factor is visiting 12 other cities and towns around Australia.
