The need for an activity for teenage kids was brought to the attention of the Men’s Shed and table tennis was mentioned.
As a result, the Men’s Shed has purchased the table and accessories such as bats and balls from Sportspower in Parkes.
It was presented to a delighted PCYC Manager, Amanda Sutton this week.
Men’s Shed President, Ron Fewings and Secretary Trevor Gilbert made the presentation.
“We were able to purchase the table from general funds which we have raised through carrying out community jobs, furniture repairs and work for Northparkes Mines,” Trevor said.
“We make enough from our fees and morning teas to cover costs, and had some money over, so we wanted to give something back to the community. Who better than for our local youth?”
Amanda said the table tennis would provide a wonderful activity for local kids.
“There aren’t too many things teenagers can do at the club, so this will be very welcome.”
The club has some 600 members, attracting up to 50 during the school holidays.
Up to 20 kids are also looked after in after school care at the club.
