Before Raniera Kidwell heard a series of gunshots outside the bedroom of his Glen Alpine home, he heard his stepfather say: "Who the f--- are you?"

Mr Kidwell, now 27, has told the NSW Supreme Court how he went upstairs to see if his mother was OK on April 6, 2011, before he heard more shots.
He then went into his garage and found his stepfather Gemahl Maika's car there with the door open.
"I walked out the garage calling out for him ... no response," he said.
"I noticed in the driveway there was shrubs and it looked like it had been separated.
"I walked over and that's where I saw him."
Mr Kidwell broke down in court on Wednesday as he described finding Mr Maika, 38, on his elbows and knees and with "blood everywhere".
It is alleged Mr Maika was killed as retribution for giving evidence against Luke Sparos, who was due to face trial for his alleged involvement in drug supply.
The accused gunman was Maximillian Mazzilli, an alleged "killer for hire".
The jury heard this week that Mr Maika had provided witness statements about his knowledge and involvement in the drug supply and importation and he wasn't charged as a result.
The court heard on Wednesday that after the shooting Mr Kidwell had "no idea" why Mr Maika was killed and did not know about him providing a statement to police.
Mr Maika's widow, Marana Maika, told the court she knew of her husband's cocaine use in about 2007 or 2008.
Mr Maika later approached her and said he had "done something stupid".
Mr Maika spoke of a friend who had been involved in importing cocaine through a family business.
She was asked if Mr Maika said he had become involved in the same business.
"Yes," Ms Maika replied.
Mr Kidwell, her son, told the court he was playing PlayStation on the night of April 6, 2011, when the power went out.
He went outside and noticed a wheelie bin had been moved to provide access to the power box.
Five or so minutes after switching the power on, it "tripped" again.
The jury has heard that Mr Mazzilli allegedly switched off the electricity to the power outlets before Mr Maika was shot.
Mr Sparos' wife, Christine Saliba, is accused of helping in the preparation of the alleged crime. She has pleaded not guilty to being an accessory before the fact.
Mr Mazzilli, Mr Sparos and Mr Sparos' brother-in-law Anthony Saliba have pleaded not guilty to murder.
All four are on trial in the NSW Supreme Court.
