The westbound lanes of Richmond Road were closed for several hours while police investigated but the road has since been reopened.
An hour and a half earlier, two children were hit by a car on a street in Sydney's north shore.
A witness reported seeing the car run through a red light before it hit two boys, 4 and 6, on the corner of River Road West and Loungueville Road at Loungueville.
The four-year-old suffered a fractured leg and was taken to hospital after 10pm on Friday.
The other boy didn't need medical treatment.
Meanwhile the 25-year-old driver was breath tests and returned a negative result.
Anyone who witnesses either crash is asked to contact police.
