Family members of Year 6 students joined with the general school community at Parkes Public School on Tuesday to witness the induction of this year’s prefects.

Special guests included current Parkes High School captain Hugh McKenzie and vice-captain Lachlan Hoyle who both congratulated the new prefects and addressed the assembly on the important role of leadership.
Both young men are past students of Parkes Public School and their speeches made the ceremony even more special.
All Year 6 students at Parkes Public are given the opportunity to be prefects, but must meet certain criteria before being awarded their badges.
This year some 30 students decided to take the pledge.
Parents and carers present at Tuesday’s special school assembly were called forward to do the honour of pinning the prefect badge on the uniform of their child.
