The sealing of the time capsule follows the official opening ceremony for the new hospital which was attended by Mr Gee, NSW Premier, Mike Baird, Deputy Premier, Troy Grant and Minister for Health, Jillian Skinner on Tuesday, January, 19.
Mr Gee said the sealing of the new time capsule provides the chance to reflect on how lucky we are to have such a world class facillity as the new Parkes Hospital.
“The message I wrote to the future is just as the community of today is built upon the achievements of the past, so I hope the community of the future will build upon what we have accomplished in 2016."

“The message I wrote to the future is just as the community of today is built upon the achievements of the past, so I hope the community of the future will build upon what we have accomplished in 2016,” Mr Gee said.
The opportunity to create a new time capsule has been welcomed by hospital staff after the successful extraction of the 111-year-old time capsule from the old hospital last year.
Items from the old time capsule are currently being managed by the Museum of Applied Arts and Science in Sydney and will soon be returned to Parkes Hospital for appropriate storage and display.
The new time capsule, which will be buried in the patient courtyard, will help preserve a significant historical period for Parkes Hospital when the new facility was planned and constructed.
All the items chosen for the time capsule were selected by the Lachlan Culture and Arts Working Group in consultation with Mr Gee.
The items chosen for the time capsule were:
• Lachlan Health Service 2013/ 2014 Annual Report.
• Parkes Champion Post newspaper featuring the official opening ceremony.
• A bound document featuring:
- Photos of the new hospital and the different stages of the redevelopment.
- Project newsletters.
- Copies of the sketches made by local Wiradjuri elder and artist, Robert Clegg – the guga design features on the main entry doors.
- News articles relating to the construction of the new hospital.
- A list of project team members.
• Signatures of attendees at the official opening ceremony.
• Overview of the Lachlan Health Council.
• Construction plans of the new Parkes Hospital.
• Hard drive with videos and photos of the redevelopment.
The $113.7 million Lachlan Health Service Project is funded by the NSW Government and includes the planning and construction of Forbes and Parkes hospital redevelopments.
The total budget also includes $326,000 provided by the Centre for Oral Health to fund a third dental chair for the new Parkes hospital.
