The carnival provides an excellent opportunity for Councils from around Australia to enter mens and mixed touch football teams in a social competition to contest for the title of the fittest and most skillful council.
The event also offers local government staff a rare chance to network with other council’s employees in a fun, social setting.
The carnival was instigated and has been hosted by Parkes for the past 23 years and is organised by council staff with assistance from the Parkes Sports Council.
Now entering its 24th year, this annual sporting event is still attracting new teams and players.
The carnival is open to teams comprising of employees of Australian, State and Local Governments, allied organisations and their families.
Parkes will see teams travel from as far as Brisbane to participate in this popular competition, with the event seen as a key component of the local government event calendar in NSW.
It is expected that well over 35 teams (up to 400 people) will take part again this year.
The 2016 major sponsor is JR Richards & Sons.
Parkes Shire Council, together with the Parkes Sports Council, are very pleased to have JR Richards on board once again for the event.
“It is because of this kind of very generous sponsorship that such a popular event like this is able to continue,” Council’s Events Development Officer, Chia Barlow said
“It would not be possible without their support.
“It is fantastic for Parkes to host this annual sporting event which consistently provides a substantial economic injection for local accommodation and hospitality providers,” she said.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this year’s carnival.
For further enquiries contact Council’s Events Development Officer via email at events@parkes.nsw.gov.au.
Entry fees are $90 per team and nomination forms can be downloaded from council's website www.parkes.nsw.gov.au or phone the Parkes Visitor Information Centre on 6862 6000.
Nominations forms together with player waivers and entry fee payments are due on Monday, February 15.
Food and beverage stalls will be operating with council encouraging everyone to go out to Cheney Park to show support for all the 2016 LG touch competitors.
