All four teams showed plenty of fighting spirit, but were unable to overcome their opponents.
Division 1 lost to Cowra and with only one round remaining for them, will have to wait until next year for a chance at the title.
Their loss yesterday, and 3-2 loss the week before at Wentworth Golf Club, see them in last place for Pool B and unable to make the finals.
Featuring a pair of changes to the side which lost in Round 1, Parkes’ Division 1 side were hopeful of causing an upset yesterday.
They nearly completed it, only to fall at the final hurdle.
Rob Hey bounced back from a tough loss the first week to beat Cowra’s Michael Haydon.
Justin Sutton showed some class to win his match 2 and 1 while
Wayne Powter, Sam Turner and Phil Bishop lost their rubbers.
The news was no better for the Parkes Division 2 side who went down 3-2 to Forbes.
After Denis Howard (5 and 4) and Joe van Opynen (2 and 1) had won their matches, the tie became very tight as John Green (2 and 1) and Peter Dixon (3 and 2) lost to leave Parkes’ fate in the hands of Phil Barnard.
After being 3 up early in his match, Barnard hit from the final tee all square with his Forbes opponent.
He hit a hook into the left trees and despite a comprehensive search from his Parkes team mates, Barnard’s ball could not be found.
He was forced to return to the tee and hit again, blasting a drive up the left hand side.
His reached the green with a brilliant 3-wood to still have a chance at making five and walking off with par.
The putt just missed low and his opponent shakily knocked in a three foot putt to win the match and the tie.
Despite a big 7 and 6 win to captain David Stevenson and a fighting extra hole effort from Kade Gillingham, Parkes’ Division 3 side went down 3-2 to Cowra while Division 4 lost by the same margin to Forbes.
This Sunday, Parkes travel to Cowra to play Blayney in Division 2, Division 3 play Wentworth and Divisions 1 and 4 have the bye.
