The 295km trek would take roughly three and a half hours by car.
But for a cause close to her heart, Anne Maree Randell and her fiance Phillip Betts are going to walk the distance, and you are invited to join them.
Anne Maree lost her cousin Annie to brain cancer in November 2015.
“I decided to do something worthwhile in her memory and raise money for brain cancer research,” she said.
Anne Maree who works for Uniting Care at the Westhaven Association in Dubbo, and Phillip, now retired, are hoping to raise in excess of $20,000.
“We think the walk will take us about 10 days,” Anne Marie said.
They will leave Parkes at 4am on Monday, May 9, walking through Eugowra, Canowindra, Cowra, Boorowa, Yass, and Murrumbateman.
The couple will stay in caravan parks or motels along the way and are looking for sponsorships for the Cancer Council registered event.
They are holding a fundraising barbecue at Woolworths, Parkes, on Saturday, April 9, from 8am to 2pm.
There will be raffles and lucky dips for children on the day.
A Family Fun Day at the Macquarie Inn, Dubbo, is planned for Sunday, May 1.
This “Cupcakes for Cancer” themed day will include raffles and lucky door prizes.
Anne Maree is the newly appointed Ambassador for Brain Cancer and said she wants to make her fundraiser a biennial event.
“I plan on walking somewhere every two years to raise money for this important cause,” she said.
“I am meeting with John Wood, the Ambassador for Cancer Council on February 25, so I’m really looking forward to that.
“Supporters can make a donation at any NAB branch, and there are donation boxes scattered all over town. Any amount is greatly appreciated.”
