A familiar name in Parkes sporting circles will be part of the Cowboys Bundaberg trial side - Jack Creith.
The former Parkes Spacemen junior signed with the Mackay Cutters last year and will line up for the Cowboys tomorrow.
The Cutters are a feeder club for the Cowboys, giving Creith a chance to impress the NRL side and potentially earn a more permanent call up.
“It is very exciting to be lining up for the Cowboys,” Jack said.
“I joined the Cutters as a pathway to the Cowboys.
“Coach David Simpson was asked by Paul Green to nominate a couple of players.
“After they watched some footage the Cowboys chose me which is very exciting.
“I can’t wait,” he said.
The 19-man team for tomorrow’s trial match against the Brisbane Broncos features a mix of established Cowboys NRL squad members including Queensland State of Origin winner Ben Hannant, new recruits, Under 20s talent and Intrust Super Cup players.
Jack played two years of Under 20s with Canberra after leaving Parkes, before he switched codes to play rugby union with Eastern Suburbs in Sydney’s Shute Shield competition.
His move back to rugby league with Mackay was seen as a chance to work his way towards a possible NRL career with the Cowboys.
“After Canberra I needed a change,” Jack added.
“Now I am happy to be getting back to the sport that I have always loved.”
