A teenage boy has been charged over an alleged online threat that saw Sydney Opera House precinct evacuated and the Manly ferry wharf searched.

NSW Police said they received the threat at 10.50am on Thursday via social media.
By 2pm the Sydney Opera House and forecourt had been evacuated and metal barrier put in place to stop anyone entering the area while police carried out a search in what they described as a "precautionary measure".
Officers also searched Manly ferry wharf after being told those responsible for making the threats may have been on a ferry.
The 1.20pm ferry from Manly to the city was also cancelled as part of the police operation.
Searches at both locations failed to find anything of interest.
NSW Police then investigated the threat and on Monday arrested a 17-year-old boy at Sydney City police station.
He was charged with false representation resulting in a police investigation.
The 17-year-old is due face court on February 23.
