A man who survived a car crash on a Central Coast highway got out of his vehicle only to be struck and killed by another passing car early on Tuesday morning, police say.

The tragedy occurred on the Central Coast Highway at Erina just after 5.20am.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said two vehicles were believed to be driving west when they were involved in a collision on the highway, between Bonnal and Karalta roads.
The male driver of one of the cars got out of his vehicle, only to be struck by a third vehicle as it passed the crash scene.
Paramedics arrived a short time later and attempted to resuscitate the man, however he died at the scene.
Police said no one else was injured in the crashes.
Two white vehicles could be seen by the side of the highway, one with significant damage to its rear and another with damage to its bonnet.
The man who died has not been formally identified.
Police have set up a crime scene on the highway, and forensic officers are examining the area.
The highway's west-bound lanes are expected to remain closed for most of Tuesday morning, and police urged motorists to take alternative routes.
