While it was not the strongest Dubbo side Parkes has ever met, the home side produced a dominant display to claim a 70 run victory in the McDonalds Country Cup at Northparkes Oval yesterday.

Led by a hard hitting 81 from captain Anthony Heraghty, Parkes posted a very good total of 8-247 from their 50 overs before a good bowling performance restricted the visitors to be all out for 177 in the 42nd over.
Heraghty received good support in the Parkes innings by the Smith twins.
Myles scored 36 before some late order hitting from Blake (45no) helped Parkes into a strong position at the break.
All three players contributed with the ball as well.
Heraghty took two wickets with his off spin, while medium pacers Myles and Blake chipped in with two and one wicket respectively.
The major damage with the ball was done by evergreen paceman Phil Dunford who took 4-42 off his 10 overs to end any hope Dubbo had of reaching the target.
Parkes’ innings started well with Heraghty and Peter Yelland (8) putting on 53 for the first wicket.
The home side were 2-81 after 14 overs when Vince Umbers (3) fell.
Parkes continued to put partnerships together, but looked in danger of a sub-standard score when at 8-211 with three overs remaining.
Enter Blake Smith and Toby Nash (15no)
The handy all-rounders put on 42 runs for the ninth wicket to leave Parkes full of confidence heading into the field.
The Parkes total could have been even greater, if not for the fine bowling of Jacob Hill (3-32).
Hill was well supported by Stuart Naden (2-46) and Ben Taylor (2-27).
Dubbo’s batting was always under pressure and was not helped with the early loss of opener Jason Green for zero, LBW to Myles Smith in the second over.
The visitors continued to lose wickets at regular intervals before falling a long way short.
Stuart Naden capped a fine individual performance with a well crafted 40 while Nathan Munro top scored with a solid 62.
The win sees Parkes move onto Round 4 of the statewide competition with their next opponent yet to be determined.
