Mr Gee said councils across NSW made their submissions to the NSW Government earlier last week and Parkes had made the decision to continue standing alone following an overwhelming community response.
“Parkes Shire Council voted unanimously to continue to stand alone, and I will be backing that decision to the hilt,” Mr Gee said.
“Parkes has already being declared “fit” so it would be a perverse outcome if it was forced to merge with another council against its wishes.
Parkes has an energetic, dynamic and well-managed council and its wishes should be respected.

“I will be doing everything that I can to make sure that happens,” Mr Gee said.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with Parkes Shire Council and I’m obviously keen for that great relationship to continue. Part of my job as a local member is to go in to bat for the interests of our communities and I’ll be going in to bat for the council and the Parkes shire.
“I’ll be fighting as hard as I can to make sure we get the result that Parkes wants.”
