Girls and boys aged from four years can join ANZ Hot Shots which will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school.
Hot Shots is a Tennis Australia modified program using smaller equipment and low compression balls more suitable to younger children.
It runs in groups of four players to one coach for half an hour, so there is plenty of personalised attention.
The eight week program costs $85 and includes a free racquet, t-shirt and other goodies including an ANZ Game Save Match Money ball for any new players.
For further information or to join, please phone Helen Magill on 0407 253 888 to confirm a place.
JUNIOR COMPETITION
Tuesday, October 13, will see the start of junior competition for Term 4.
Divisions will include singles only for half an hour or the singles and doubles division.
If anyone would like to play in the singles and doubles division, they will need to enter with a partner.
There will also be an Orange ball division which is for any girls and boys that have Orange ball lessons and are keen to have a crack at comp.
Names need to be in with Helen by this Wednesday.
10S TEAMS EVENT
Good Luck to Charlie Strudwick who is off to Cessnock this Friday to compete in the NSW 10 and under teams event, representing Central West.
Charlie will no doubt try her very best and be a fine representative of Parkes Tennis Club.
JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS
Jake Magill has been competing at the Wollongong tournament over the weekend with a full report on his results in next week’s junior tennis report.
Jake will also travel to Hay this weekend for their AMT adult event where he will gain valuable match practice.
Meanwhile, there is some excellent news on former Parkes player Emily Thomson.
Emily won the 16 and under singles event at the lead-in to the Nationals last week in Gosford.
Emily played some consistent tennis to defeat the top seed in the final and was very happy with her form going into the Nationals.
She made a great start by defeating her South Australian opponent in the opening round before unfortunately falling in the second round to the fifth seed.
Emily then competed in the ITF International in Sydney which attracted entries from across Australasia as well as the US.
Emily was disappointed with her first round loss, but will head to Canberra for the next ITF later this week.
She will then be getting back to the training court where she puts in an amazing 20 plus hours each week working on her game.
