The Cystic Fibrosis Great Escape is a 10-day car rally travelling through unique and iconic locations within Australia.
The rally and its 13 year history attracts 40 plus cars each year with over 150 participants.
The Great Escape has forged a unique identity within the rally industry whilst raising funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
It starts today in Kiama and heads to Byron Bay via “Back of Bourke”.
It will pass through Canowindra, Eugowra, Trundle, Yeoval, Albert, Nymagee, Cobar, Byrock, Gulargambone, Come By Chance, Lightning Ridge, Goondiwindi, Mallawa, Texas, Cherrabah Resort, Woodenbong, Casino finishing in Byron Bay on September 17.
The rally will stop overnight in Trundle this Wednesday.
Next morning (at 8am) will feature a fun event in the main street, with a thong throwing competition as part of ‘Wayne’s Day.’
Wayne was one of the regular characters who took part in the rally, but died suddenly after last year’s event.
As he always dressed, competitors will be attired in shorts, singlet and thongs for the big throw.
