Last week’s extra-time golden point victory over Nyngan ensured they have greatly exceeded any expectations by reaching the inaugural League Tag grand final.
Captain-coach Hannah Kelly made the decisive bust to run in the match winning try.
The Space Cats enjoyed an excellent year, finishing third in the regular season.
They meet Westside in the decider this Sunday after the minor premiers defeated the Space Cats in the major semi-final.
Parkes led the favoured Westside team 10-0 early in the second half before Dubbo scored 18 points in the final nine minutes to run out 18-16 victors.
It was the first time Dubbo had been put under pressure and will give the Space Cats heart ahead of Sunday’s clash.
They will go into the match without the services of Shayna Male who suffered a major knee injury in last week’s final.
Captain-coach Hannah Kelly has been outstanding this season, leading her troops with aplomb.
She has been well supported by Natalie Gardiner and Sarah McAneney while the whole team has improved drastically over the duration of the season.
After a slow start, the Space Cats finished the regular season scoring 210 points, second only to Westside.
They conceded 196 points which was the third best defensive record behind Westside and Nyngan.
The Space Cats thoroughly deserve their shot at the title and are a real chance of causing a boilover from 10am this Sunday.
