But there is enough to once again congratulate the Parkes Show on another outstanding event.
It never ceases to amaze me how we consistently punch above our weight, and the Show is certainly right up there in that thinking.
My favourite, as always, is the fireworks and my workmate, Bill Jayet captured some fantastic shots of the loud and colourful display (they are on the website).
We are regularly told that the fireworks is second only to Sydney’s multi-million dollar displays.
Whether that is actually the case is another thing, but I’m happy to quote that as fact!
We had some family visitors for the show this year and they were certainly impressed, commenting that they have nothing like it in their own rural communities.
There is so much more on offer though, and those rides in Sideshow Alley just get more spectacular every year (and more expensive too, I might add).
But despite all those attractions, there is no doubt what the favourite is with the kids.
The Animal Nursery is absolutely wonderful and allows the children real hands-on experiences.
Our granddaughters, Isabella and Pipa could not be dragged away from patting all the pets featured.
They have their own flock of sheep at home and are well used to mixing with animals.
But they still can’t get enough. It was beautiful to see.
The Show only comes around once a year (thank heavens for that, I hear the Show volunteers yelling!) but it is something this community can be immensely proud of.
Incidentally, I said we punch above our weight - next week we will feature stories on two local women who certainly qualify in that regard.
One is an Australian champion (again) and another has some of her work featured in one of the top art exhibitions in Australia.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
“Never be afraid to laugh at yourself, after all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century.”
(HINT). Don’t forget to spoil us dads this weekend.
Surely we deserve it at least one day each year!
