This was again the case at the most recent meeting in which four candidates took the oath pledge in front of a large crowd of family and friends.
Mayor Ken Keith presided over the brief ceremony after General Manager Kent Boyd read out a short background on each of them.
They included Mrs Mary Day, Mrs Rowena Palispis, daughter Jerica, and Mr Norman Edward Valdez.
Mrs Day moved to Australia from the Philippines in late September 2010.
Mary is married to Jim Day and she along with their son Adrian moved to Parkes that same year.
She enjoys spending her time cooking for her family and working in the garden when time allows.
Mrs Rowena Palispis and her husband moved from the Philippines to Australia in 2011.
Rowena and her daughter Jerica celebrated their citizenship ceremony together in the company of other family members Joanne Marie, Jamaica Lovely and Jane Rose.
Jerica attends Parkes High SChool and Rowena is a full-time mum.
Both enjoy cooking in their spare time.
Norman Valdez arrived in Australia from the Philippines in 2010 before moving to Parkes earlier this year.
He works as an IT Consultant in Parkes and enjoys spending time with his horses and watching TV in his spare time.
Following the Naturalisation Ceremony, all present joined with the Mayor, councillors and staff for afternoon tea.
