A woman became trapped in her Mazda after the car collided with a tow truck in Reid at the Gooreen Street and Allambee Street intersection about 8.30am.

An Emergency Services Agency spokeswoman said firefighters and paramedics needed to remove the roof of the car to free the woman.

She said the woman sustained a back injury and was taken to the Canberra Hospital.

ACT Policing said the suburban crash blocked the intersection while the woman was freed.

Earlier, four cars collided on the Barton Highway near Hall just across the ACT border, disrupting Canberra-bound traffic from about 8am.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said firefighters, paramedics and police were called to the crash at Wallaroo however, however no one was trapped or seriously injured.

In Canberra a three-car crash on the Tuggeranong Parkway just before 8.30am held up northbound commuters heading to work and school.

An ACT Policing spokesman said one car was left stuck on the road between Hindmarsh Drive and Cotter Road, blocking part of the highway and delaying peak morning traffic.

At the time he urged drivers to avoid the area, which became a "bit of a mess" as cars banked up.

All lanes were cleared by 9am, a police spokeswoman said, and no-one was seriously injured.
