A full school assembly was held with awards presented.
Parents then viewed the students work in their classrooms, before enjoying a traditional Parkes East picnic lunch on the Stage 1 Playground.
Parkes East Public School prides itself on having a place for every child.
Opportunities exist for all children to excel in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits.
Great programs, such as whole school athletics and cross country carnivals, buddy classes, student welfare support, dance and choir, are run across the school with children joining their peers from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The school runs an effective Kindergarten Transition program that ensures beginning Kindergarten students have a settled start to school.
There are also an active Student Representative Council and Junior Aboriginal Consultative Group.
Parkes East implements Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) with the whole school community striving to live “Safe”, “Respectful” and “Responsible” lives.
“Sonny” the PBL mascot, is loved by students and staff alike.
Parkes East Public School is supported by an amazing Parents and Citizens Association as evidenced by the highly regarded annual Parkes East Fete.
Children at Parkes East enjoy learning, growing and playing in the spacious well maintained school environment with large sporting fields, covered outdoor learning areas and colourful synthetic grass areas in the Stage 1 playground and under the main school shelter.
Students enjoy regular access to technology, with video conferencing facilities, a computer lab, smart boards in every classroom, as well as access to lap tops and iPads.
The students are fully supported in their learning journey by a highly talented, committed and professional staff who work tirelessly as a team on behalf of the children and their families at Parkes East Public School.
Mr Ostler, the Parkes East Principal, said Education Week is an important time for public education.
“Not only does it showcase the wonderful programs and opportunities for students of all backgrounds, it also highlights the dedication of staff and the benefits of strong school and home/community links,” Mr Ostler said.
