Parkes enjoyed a lot of success with all teams performing credibly over the weekend.
Parkes 1 finished Over 35s Division 1 State Champions.
Parkes 2 competed in Over 35s Division 4.
They defeated Sydney East 3-0 (Carla Peden 2, Megan Hornery), defeated Port Macquarie 2-0 (Megan Hornery 2), defeated Illawarra/South Coast 2-0 (Jane Mattiske 2), lost to Inverell/Moree 1-0, defeated Orange 3-0 (Sheridan Kirk, Jane Mattiske, Cherie Simpson), lost to Sydney Northern Beaches 3-1 (Jane Mattiske).
At the end of the round games, Parkes narrowly missed out on a place in the final, finishing third.
Parkes 3 competed in Over 40s Division 3.
They defeated Bathurst 1-0 (Annette Orr), defeated Hunter 1-0 (Jodie Dunn), defeated Sydney Northern Beaches 5-1 (Annette Orr 3, Amanda Draper, Jodie Dunn), lost to Grafton 2-1 (Leanne Miles), defeated Inverell/Moree 3-0 (Leanne Miles 2, Amanda Draper), lost to Coffs Coast 2-1 (Leanne Miles) and defeated Illawarra South Coast 4-0 (Leanne Miles 3, Annette Orr).
At the end of the round games, Parkes were placed third and just missed a finals berth.
Parkes 4 competed in Over 45s Division 2.
They defeated Lithgow 4-0 (Tammy Tanks 2, Jo Besant 2), defeated Hunter 1-0 (Michelle Godwin), lost to Newcastle 3-0, defeated Sydney South West 1-0 (Tammy Tanks), lost to Goulburn 2-1 (Jo Besant), defeated Sydney East 2-1 (Michelle Godwin, Tammy Tanks), defeated Wagga Wagga 2-0 (Jo Besant, Lyn Bourke).
Parkes finished third and were very unlucky not to make the final.
It was a tremendous weekend of hockey for the Parkes women with one state title and three third placings which show the continued strength of the local association.
The Parkes ladies would like to give a special thank you to Megan Hornery and Kerrie Nutley for all their efforts in organising the weekend.
They would also like to thank Sandie Littlewood, Liz Tanswell and Kevin Burgess for their marvellous efforts in keeping all four teams on the field physically.
