The Inland Tourism Awards provide tourism organizations and individuals the opportunity to gain an insight into their industry, their business, achieve recognition for their success and promote tourism within their region.
One of the main focus points of the awards is to develop quality regional tourism products and provide businesses the opportunity to benchmark their business with similar businesses in activity and size.
Winners of the Inland Tourism Awards gain finalists status upon entering the NSW State Tourism Awards, and if successful, go onto the National Tourism Awards.
The annual awards recognise excellence in regional tourism across 19 categories and Central NSW had 13 finalists, 10 of which won Gold, Silver or Encouragement Awards, making it a spectacular success.
The Gala Dinner was attended by 200 regional tourism operators and hosted by TV personality and former Australian Test Cricketer, Mike Whitney.
“Central NSW is just the most fabulous, must-do destination. We have an incredible array of quality experiences set amongst magnificent landscapes as well as an incredibly rich cultural heritage,” Lucy White (Executive Officer, Central NSW Tourism) said.
“The results at 2015 INTA now officially confirm that and demonstrate that this region is teeming with amazing experiences and fabulous events all within easy reach of Sydney, the coast and regional NSW.
“To have 13 finalists was an incredible feat, and to have 10 of those rewarded with Gold, Silver or an Encouragement Award is just about as good as it gets. I am so proud of them all,” Lucy added.
Tourism is vital to the regional economy in Central NSW with 1.9 million overnight visitors to Central NSW injecting $847 million into the local economy.
Central NSW Tourism is a Regional Tourism Organisation comprised of 10 members including the councils of Blayney, Bathurst, Cabonne, Forbes, Orange, Parkes, Weddin, Wellington as well as Mudgee Region Tourism Inc and Cowra Tourism Corporation.
