Police and paramedics were called to an accident on the Peak Hill Road last Saturday afternoon after a car hit a horse and its rider.

The accident occurred at approximately 12.30pm near the Bleechmore Road intersection.
The driver of a Toyota Corolla - a 61 year-old Parkes man was forced to brake suddenly after the horse and its rider - a 45 year-old Parkes man, entered onto the highway.
The car hit the horse, causing it and the rider to be flung onto the bonnet and then onto the road.
The horse ran off in shock back to its property but later died.
The rider was airlifted to Orange Hospital suffering head and facial injuries.
Police are continuing their investigations into the accident.
Sheep mauled to death
Dogs are believed responsible for the death of 25 sheep on a property in Akuna Lane off the Eugowra Road.
The horrible discovery was made on Monday morning.
Police are continuing their investigations into the attack that occurred between 6pm last Sunday and 8.20am Monday.
11 Positive Drug tests
A joint task force operation involving Highway Patrol and local police ran over three days from June 22 - 26.
As part of the operation, 178 drivers were subject to roadside drug testing.
Of those, 11 tested positive to driving under the influence of drugs.
As a result, those drivers received a 24 hour suspension then waited for further results from the Drug Analysis Laboratory for exact results.
Positive results mean further court action.
Attempt steal from vehicle
The glove-box of a motor vehicle was ransacked after vandals gained entry to a car that was left parked in Close Street last weekend.
Entry was gained via an unlocked front door and again police are urging motorists to always secure their vehicles.
Nothing was stolen during the incident which occurred between the period of last Friday evening and Sunday morning.
High range PCA
A 53 year-old Menai man was issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) to appear in Parkes Local Court following his arrest last Sunday on High Range PCA.
The driver was stopped in Welcome Street and subjected to a breath test which proved positive.
He was arrested and transported to the Parkes Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which produced the high range reading of .169.
Break and enter
Police are investigating the theft of household goods during a break and enter to a home in Gallop Avenue.
During the period 5pm to 8pm last Friday, thieves gained entry to the house through a rear bathroom window.
They then made off with a laptop, lounge-room furniture and two television sets.
Malicious damage
Investigations are continuing into an incident of malicious damage to the BP 24-hour service station on the Forbes Road.
An offender punched a pane of glass causing it to shatter.
The damage bill is estimated at $1000.
Nothing stolen
Police report investigations revealed nothing to have been stolen during a break and enter of a cabin within the grounds of a caravan park in Albert Street.
The break-in occurred between the period June 22 and 28, with the offenders rummaging through items before apparently leaving empty handed.
