Strike Force Godos was established by detectives attached to Lachlan Local Area Command in May to investigate the illegal on-supply of prescription medication, including fentanyl, a synthetic opioid analgesic, in the area.
In Lachlan Local Area Command alone, prescription drugs such as fentanyl have been linked to a number of overdoses, one fatal, over the past few months.
Following investigations, at 8.40am on Thursday Strike Force Godos officers executed two search warrants on two homes in Parkes.
At one home, a 65-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were arrested.
At the other house a 42-year-old woman was arrested.
All three people are related.
A number of exhibits were seized at both locations for forensic examination.
It will be alleged prescription medication had been obtained from medical practitioners across the area and illegally on-sold to members of the public.
Those arrested were taken to Parkes Police Station where they were charged with drug related matters, including the Supply and Possessing of Prohibited drugs.
They were refused bail to appear at Parkes Local Court.
“Today’s operations are a significant step in reducing the impact of illegally-obtained drugs on the community,” Lachlan Local Area Command Crime Manager Detective Inspector Brad Blanchard said.
“Our officers will continue to target similar crime in the area, to prevent the further exploitation of prescription medication."
Strike Force Godos investigations continue and it is expected further arrest will be made.
