The Good Neighbour Award was designed to acknowledge the many people who look after their neighbours.
They do not seek recognition, but Rotary felt they should be thanked for the job they do.
Rotary conducted a special luncheon at Neigbourhood Central last week for this year’s nominees.
Those nominated (and their nominator) were:
Maggi and Jaco Barnard - by Rochelle Smith.
Paul and Marge Cusack - Jack and Maureen White.
Nancy Dumesny - Judy Bellay.
Marlene and Geoff Freeman - Laurie Keane.
Bruce Hall - Yvonne Hutton.
Rose Jones - Jim Hutton.
Christine Klein - John Winner.
Muriel and Graham Lancaster - Judy Thornton.
Joan Rauchle - Doug Hodges.
Charlie Smith - Amy Iglewski.
Barry Thompson - Ray Jones.
Parkes Rotary Club president, Col Offner announced that Muriel and Graham Lancaster would receive this year’s Good Neighbour Award, receiving a voucher each to the Ikon Restaurant.
Their neighbour, Judy Thornton, who nominated them, also receive a voucher.
Mr Lancaster said he was humbled by the award.
“There are many, many people in this community who look out for their neighbours.
“They all should share in this honour.
“The people in this room are all wonderful neighbours and it is nice to see them all acknowledged.”
