The town was abuzz from Friday to Sunday for the fourth annual Trundle ABBA Festival, with visitors packing out the local showground and camping area as well as local hotels.
The festival kicked off with the arrival of Lachlan Valley Rail’s ABBA train and guaranteed return guests with a performance from internationally renowned tribute band Bjorn Again.
The day saw the iconic Trundle main street closed for traffic allowing for festival markets, food and busking.
This year five ABBA fanatics took the chance to say ‘I do, I do, I do, I do, I do’ all over again as they renewed their vows to the most iconic and romantic ABBA song lyrics. The local reverend was almost unrecognisable in his white pantsuit and wig.
Fashions of the Festival was a huge success with more entrants than ever before.
There were some seriously fancy frocks on display, many of which people had taken the time to hand craft in preparation for the event.
Professional dancers from Dancing with the Stars regulars, Alana Patience and Carmelo Pizzino started their day with a dance class for local students who learned the cha cha.
They later wowed crowds with their talents performing an ABBA medley they had choreographed especially for the Trundle festival.
The highlight of the day was Bjorn Again, who performed to the adoring crowd.
The atmosphere was described as “electric” as the foursome busted out all the ABBA classics, with some modern twists in the mix as well.
Alana and Carmelo even took to the stage with the band and revellers cheered them on as they grooved to ‘Dancing Queen’.
In a reflection of the fantastic atmosphere, fun and unique nature of the Trundle ABBA Festival Bjorn Again announced they would be back to dance and sing and say thank you for the music again in 2016.
Festival committee member Alyssa Coursey said the festival was more than great fun and a huge success.
“It a real money spinner for our local community and those towns en route to Trundle,” she said.
“I would estimate that with the crowds numbering around 1500 there would be about $350,000 injected into local business over the weekend.”
