Ron, who recently married and relocated to Orange, was presented with a plaque recognising his contribution to the local community at the last council meeting.
Mayor Ken Keith thanked Ron for his work on Aboriginal working groups and in local schools.
Ron has played didgeridoo, taught local language and presented the welcome to country at many local functions.
Cr Keith said the contribution of Ron and others helped the community’s appreciation of Aboriginal culture and contribution grow.
Ron said it was an honour to be recognised.
“I didn’t expect this,” he said. “This honour should belong to a few people.”
