Dogged determination: Primped to perfection and on their best behaviour, hundreds of hounds strutted their stuff in a bid to be named top dog at the Sydney Royal Dog Show.

The competition was stiff in the best in group contest, one of the Sydney Royal Easter Show's most popular events.
Newcomer Carla took out best female standard poodle, best in breed and third place in the best in group category.
Proud owner Lorraine Boyd, who has been showing dogs for 40 years, said she was delighted with Carla's first Easter Show effort.
"She's only 16 months old so she's still a baby and a bit excitable," she said. "She was a bit overhelmed at first but once she got used to the attention, she lapped it up. She's a natural."
Judging in the agility, obedience and grooming categories will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
