It is expected the many visitors for the four day break will generate tens of thousands of dollars into the local economy.
The annual Tullamore Irish Festival is on, they can view the magnificent cars of the Renault Car Club of Australia, take a drive and see the iconic 'Dish', check out the new Art Gallery in Peak Hill or just have a relaxing drink at the Trundle Hotel which has the longest wooden verandah in NSW (87.6m) on the widest main street in NSW.
The main attraction is the 12th Tullamore Irish Festival which will take place from Friday to Sunday with a full program of events to keep the whole family entertained (see pages 10 and 11).
On Good Friday there will be Tullamore Farm Tours available, a bus tour to Forbes Camel Races, 'Stations of the Cross' at 3pm in the town park followed by activities at the Festival Village including a Celtic Concert from 6pm.
Easter Saturday is the busiest day of the Irish Festival commencing with a street parade and entertainment in the main street from 10:30am.
Following the parade, Festival Village will come alive with a full afternoon of activities including Irish music and dancing, market stalls, food and beverages plus entertainment by feature U2 tribute band, 'Elevation'. There will also be competitions such as Irish Hurdles and Irish Tug-O-War.
On Sunday the Irish Festival will feature a Poets' Breakfast and an Easter Ecumenical Service.
The Renault Car Club of Australia will be visiting Parkes on Easter Sunday with the cars parked for display at the Henry Parkes Centre from around 10.30am to 12 noon. The public are welcome to see the pristine cars, plus talk with the owners.
Shire attractions include the Parkes Radio Telescope, the four museums at the Henry Parkes Centre, the Goobang National Park, Peak Hill Open Cut Experience and the Big Fish Fossil Hut in Peak Hill.
