Tomorrow night is the final round for this term with a short presentation to follow the night’s play. If players would like to bring some supper to share they are most welcome to.
Georgia Sideris was a notable fill-in for No More Reviews, partnering Owen Jensen and Andrew Haines to score their second win in a row by upsetting Faultless’ Hannah and Phoebe Potts, and Lachie Tassell by a mere three games.
No More Reviews selection committee will be looking closely at the recent form of Daya Peiris, as in his absence the team seem to be thriving.
Daya’s match payments may be severely reduced unless a return to form is evident tomorrow evening.
There were six close sets played in the match between Davis Cup and Ace Kickers, but Davis Cup were victorious in five of them.
Matt King had a 6/5 win over Michael Minnet to get Ace Kickers on the board.
Alright Guys reported they got smashed in record time last week, but it was nice to see they stayed back and kept playing each other to work on their skills.
Spin’n’Win are a much different side when captain Nic Ryan plays and supports Charlie Umbers and Michael Somers.
Unfortunately Nic has not been able to make every week and the team has suffered in his absence.
Scared Hitless proved their value on the tennis court last week when they were just too good for White’s Electrical.
Nice to see former junior Shane Apsey back on court filling in for Corey Rowbotham who apparently succumbed to a rather nasty hand injury.
Hope Corey is on the mend and makes a return to the tennis court soon as White’s Electrical certainly look unstructured and ill disciplined in their play without him.
Maddye and Yasmin Potts, along with team organiser and motivator Paddy Lydon, won the match four sets to two.
Wednesday night mixed competition finished last week with the match of the round between East Parkes and AgriWest.
The banter started earlier in the week with rivals and work mates Ryan Thornberry and Matt Burkitt hard at it.
It was Ryan who had the last laugh when he partnered young gun Jack Kearney and worked overtime to walk away with a 6/4, 6/4 win over Matt and fellow East Parkes player Michael Ostler.
Michael struggled a little with the pace of shot.
After the match Ryan declared “AgriWest team ditched the right reject”.
Raylene Rout and Emma Cox, along with Kristine Boggs and Karen Owens, enjoyed their friendly match with a few laughs in the final round.
AgriWest went on to score a convincing 7-1 win.
The final scoreboard read Services Club on 65 points, followed by Hamiltons 50 and A Bit of Hit’n’Miss third on 45.
Many thanks to Mrs Lyn Pengilly for running another successful competition.
There will not be a Wednesday night mixed comp next term but the Tennis Club will offer Tuesday night mixed teams of three players, enjoying one set of singles and two sets of doubles on two courts.
This competition will commence on April 21 for 7-8 weeks.
Entries to Helen Magill.
