I love being in an organisation where everyone’s ideas are considered and talents used so that we can make meaningful improvements to the quality of many people’s lives, both locally and elsewhere, by working together with mutual respect, trust, and friendship.

I also love the fun and enjoyment we have when either doing hands on work or supporting a community endeavour, and the whole spirit in which our business and planning meetings are conducted.
Most people help others on an individual basis, but there are many things an individual cannot do.
On your own you could not subsidise the hearing testing at the Early Education Centre, but Quota does.
On your own you could not afford to give special hearing systems for our schools, but Quota does.
Neither on your own could you organise and run an event like the Open Gardens to raise money for organisations like Can Assist, nor put on a successful International Women’s Day function for our community, but Quota can and Quota does.
Our Quota club embraces women of all ages, sizes, shapes and backgrounds.
We enjoy each other’s company and look after each other as well as doing whatever we can to help others.
Once a month our amazing Anne Steel holds an afternoon tea at her home attended by as many Quotarians who can make it, as well as some of our older members and friends who can no longer go out in the evenings.
There is always a table of beautiful food at Anne’s, but this month it was even more magnificent than usual as we took the opportunity to wish two of our most senior, but still very active members , Val Worthington and Isobel Orange, a very, very happy special birthday.
Anne’s big table was groaning under the weight of the magnificent spread – a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach – and Val and Isobel were thrilled by their surprise birthday party.
Both ladies were also given beautiful flowers by the Quotarians to take home, and Val was delighted to hear that this time we had not picked them from her garden. (Yes! Thereby hangs a tale.)
We have a very strong club here in Parkes, but we are always looking for new members, with new ideas and skills.
We have our business meetings at night so that younger working women with their fresh and up to date ideas can join and help us keep this terrific organisation vibrant and growing into the future.
My phone number is 6862 2990 so if you would like to know more about us, I would love to hear from you.
