The ride will end at Parkes Showgrounds with an old car and bike show.
Riders also get the opportunity to be part of an iconic photo shoot at the Dish.
Parkes’ Grant and Mandy Hennock have taken part for the past two years, travelling to Sydney to join the ride.
They feel it’s important to support the ride, given the incidence of Parkinson’s Disease.
“Not only do you get to support a very worthy cause, you also get breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dinner served by a dedicated group of volunteers, a show on Saturday night featuring Angry Anderson with cold refreshments at reasonable prices supplied by the show committee boys,” they said.
The riders range from members of Ulysses to Long Riders and anyone who just loves those weekend rides to nowhere.
They will be on Harleys, Victorys, Triumphs, Hondas, Kawasakis, Yamahas and Beamers but they will all have one destination in sight - Parkes for Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative condition (after dementia); a chronic, progressive and incurable disease with substantial disability, whose sufferers face enormous physical and psychological challenges.
Organisers say the challenge is not the ride.
The challenge is what every person with Parkinson’s faces every day of their lives.
The challenge for the fundraiser ride is to ensure free counselling, information, education and nursing services are available for those with Parkinson’s.
You can register for the ride online at thebigride4parkinsons.gofundraise.com.au/
There is also information about accommodation discounts for Big Ride participants.
The Hennocks would be happy to hear from any locals who would like to travel to Sydney with them.
