The clash which some pundits believe could also be the competition final, saw the two sides meet as undefeated leaders.
By winning by 14 shots, Birdies gained the two bonus points when a team wins by more than 10 shots.
Birdies were capably led by team captain Leone Stevenson with 32 nett, and Judy Fisher with a great 26 nett in their 130 to 144 win.
In other Round 5 matches, Slice & Dice also gained the bonus points in their 134 to 145 victory over Big Poles, Grip It & Sip It recorded a narrow two point victory 142 to 144 over Cricketers, and Jewell on the Newell kept their slim chances of making the final alive with a 136.5 to 142 victory over BB & Bs.
Cellar Crows once again battled for numbers in their one shot victory over No Names, eventually recording a 145.5 to 146.5 win.
In the final matches, both All Sorts and Friday Burglars scored forfeits over Railway Rebels and International Tigers respectively.
The competition ladder is as follows:
34 Birdies, 28 IGA All Stars, All Sorts and Grip It & Sip It, 26 Jewell on Newell, 20 Friday Burglars and Cellar Crows, 18 No Names, 16 Cricketers, 14 Big Poles and B.B & Bs, 6 International Tigers, 2 Railway Rebels.
In the individual competition played in conjunction, Leone Stevenson took out the handicap players best score in returning a solid 32 nett.
In the non-handicap players section, Judy Fisher shot a highly impressive 26 nett to be the worthy winner on a countback from the unlucky Chris Holman.
Ball winners from the round were 26 Chris Holman, 27 Matthew Duffy, 32 Marilyn Jones and Matt Swindle, 32.5 Jack Murray, 33 Jordan Grosvenor and Paul Reynolds, 33.5 Peter Boschman, 34 Dave Stevenson, Rod Jones, Robert Cheney and Michael Davies.
Currently Round 6 matches are being contested and players must have their scorecards in by 7.30pm tonight.
