Since the Australia Day honours were announced 39 years ago, Parkes Shire has had 39 recipients - an amazing pro-rata rate for any town in Australia.
The latest recipients were local man, Michael Greenwood and Peter Cannon of Peak Hill.
Last year’s recipients, Parkes Mayor Ken Keith and Dick Baxter of Peak Hill were also mentioned at the Australia Day ceremony in Cooke Park and attended the dinner as well.
Another special guest was Australia Day Ambassador, Annabelle Williams who was right at home, being an OAM recipient as well.
