In Major Pairs, John Hodge and Col Mudie had a close win over Peter McPhee and Steve Ryan 19/17.
Noel Nicholson and John Ward scored a good win over Ron Hornery and Keith MacRae 25/15.
In Major Singles, Joe Crowley defeated Gary McPhee 31/23.
Mick Went scored a close win over Tom Casey 31/24.
The game of the round went to Col Mudie and Mick Valentine.
Col, after a magnificent comeback, beat Mick 31/30.
Mick at one stage lead 28/23 before Col fought back to be level at 30-all.
Col then went on to score the winning point after a great game from both men.
In Minor Singles, Gary McPhee defeated Alan Affleck 31/9, while Wally Grant had too many guns for Nimo Mills to get up 31/13.
Bernie Mitchell scored a heart-stopping win over Steve Turner 31/29.
Bernie got off to a screamer, leading 9-0.
Then Steve hit his straps and caught up before both players then went to score end for end.
When they were level at 29-all, Bernie held his nerve and scored the two points needed for the game.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
12 bowlers played from 6pm to the bell at 8pm last Tuesday.
Winners were John Watson and Tom Furey with Les Kent and Dave Johnson finishing runners-up.
Twilight bowls is a mixed mufti night where anyone is welcome to go and play.
Names need to be in by 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
18 teams fronted for the first night of Thursday twilight bowls.
There were some new teams and a lot of previous teams who got some practice for the start of the competition proper this Thursday.
There is still time for anyone who would like to enter a team.
Ring the club on 6862 1446 or be at the club by 6pm on the night.
Single entries will also be most welcome.
Some teams may be short a player and looking for one.
SUNDAY
JACKPOT
10 players fronted on a beautiful Sunday morning for a crack at the Jackpot of $1000.
It did not go off and will still be $1000 this Sunday.
Winners were Gladrin Sun and Geoff Bloom.
Runners-up were Malcolm Watt and Chris Dunn.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Thursday afternoon saw 29 players on the greens.
Winners were Bob Freeman, Rob Irving and John Dunn. Runners-up were Joe Crowley and Gordon Dickson.
There were a couple of close games.
John Hodge and Ray Jones just got up over Greig Ball and Graham Barby 23/22.
Alan Wright and Col Hayward had a close shave over Steve Mills and Jeff Matters 21/19.
28 bowlers plus five markers went to do battle last Saturday.
Winners were Tom Furey and Kev Hynds with Col Woods and Arthur Corbett finishing runners-up.
