Started as part of the 2006 Festival, the show aims to allow a relevant reflection of a significant aspect of The King and his era.
Mention Elvis, and Cadillac convertibles and large American cars soon spring to mind.
Some 47 cars entered the show and filled the display area in Short Street.
Show organiser Alan Payne had high praise for those who entered vehicles in the Show, and to Parkes Shire Council for extending the area available to display the vehicles.
“Both the number and quality of vehicles has been improving steadily over the past nine years, and those on display this year are as good as you will get anywhere,” he said.
“If Council had not extended the display area, we wouldn’t have been able to fit them all in.
“However the Parkes Antique Motor Club looks forward to working with the Festival organisers to make it even bigger and better in future years”.
The 2015 Show was so popular with the crowd that it was difficult for observers to get clear photographs of the cars for some time after the display had been assembled!
Convertible of the Era was Gino Diolosa’s 1959 Cadillac, with runner- up Steve Stone’s 1963 Oldsmobile.
Car of the Era was a local 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, owned by Aleta Pay, with runner-up John Mundock’s 1955 Packard .
Top Heritage car (cars other than the big American Cars of the Era) was Greg Orford’s 1950 Vauxhall, with runner-up John Sullivan’s local 1962 Valiant.
The cars will be on display again today in Cooke Park as part of the Australia Day celebrations.
