Cadbury has announced a slight recipe change for its ever-popular 39 gram Crème Egg, and for many chocolate connoisseurs, they are viewing the decision in an egg-regious manner.
The alteration: it's still a Cadbury milk chocolate, but it is not the Cadbury dairy milk chocolate which has been used for so many years.
There have been dozens of complaints in the UK over the chocolate's new recipe, and with a new roll-out of the larger Crème Eggs in Australia underway, there might be plenty of unsatisfied tastebuds to come.
Cadbury released a statement regarding the chocolate's composition, which said the change was a direct result of customer feedback and people who liked the taste of the adapted egg.
"We carried out consumer testing ahead of this recipe and the 2015 recipe proved more popular with consumers," the statement read.
"We have always used a range of milk chocolate blends for different products, depending on their shape or consistency. Cadbury Crème Egg now uses a standard, traditional Cadbury milk chocolate for its shell."
However there will be no change to the Crème Egg pack size in Australia.
Cadbury argues the "fundamentals" of the egg remain the same, but for some people in the UK especially, the new recipe has ruined one of their favourite chocolate treats.

Right. That's it. I'm going for it. I unreservedly condemn the crime against confection that is the Creme egg.
