In many churches an opportunity is given to thank God for the life of loved ones.
At services in St George’s Anglican Church this weekend (Saturday 6pm, Sunday 7.30am and 9.30am) the lives of those who have died in the past 12 months and beyond will be remembered before God.
It is fitting that the Relay for Life coincides with this remembrance this year as many families have lost loved ones to cancer.
Also with the growing popularity of Halloween All Souls and All Saints celebration is a reminder that Jesus came to give life and give it to the full (life eternal).
Halloween in its beginning like All Souls in particular and All Saint’s Day are reminders that death and evil are defeated in and through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and that in Jesus we need not fear death or evil.
On behalf of the Anglican Church and Churches of Parkes I pray that the Relay for Life goes well and that those who have lost loved ones in recent times may know God’s peace.
