Mitch McGlashan took over the warm-up and supervision for the day, in conjunction with six other member helpers prior to hitting the skills stations.
Matt Egan, a young aspiring plus-handicap golfer from the Central West, also attended the morning and provided the kids with plenty of assistance and instructions.
It is good to see golfers such as Matt and Melissa Russell giving back to this great game and spending time with the future of Parkes Golf Club.
Scarlett Mercer was the star of the day and this week’s major McDonalds award winner for fantastic shots and winning the girls putting challenge.
Jacob Chambers picked up one of his dad’s Video Ezy awards for winning the boys putting challenge which he thought was quite funny.
Other good performers were Jordan Powter for hitting six shots in a row through the AFL goal posts, Kyle Thompson and Tess Barker for some great long shots and Ariel Labuschagne continues to shine in the short game of chipping and putting.
The members of the golf club have been hugely impressed with the skills of the kids and more importantly their fantastic behaviour and desire to have some fun while enjoying the features of the Parkes Golf Club.
Unfortunately, due to the NSW Country Championships being played at the Parkes Golf Club this Saturday and Sunday, there will not be any opportunity for junior golf to be undertaken.
However, any of the kids involved in the 10 week program can come and use the course facilities at any time after school, so they can grab friends and a parent and make use of their new skills.
The Club extend a very big thank you to the Parkes members who are providing assistance to the juniors during the challenge program.
An average of seven members have been on hand each weekend.
With the Duntryleague Open on the following Sunday, the club will need some new helpers.
Anyone interested can let Vince Kelly know if they can help.
The Club looks forward to seeing everybody again on Sunday, November 9, from 9.30am until 11.30am.
