Last weekend saw only five shooters brave the hot conditions at the Deep Lead Shooting Complex to shoot at the new red targets on both the 25 and 50 metre ranges for a maximum of 580 points.

It was shot under slight winds and very hot conditions but the fans in the new shed kept everyone cool.
Results are as follows (25m - 50m - Total):
Brian Drabsch 300 - 276 - 576; Basyl Rudenko 300 - 271 - 571; Paul Hocking 293 - 269 - 562; Ron Cunningham 297 - 262 - 559; John Smeaton 298 - 250 - 548.
With the new targets being trialled, shooters with high powered scopes liked them.
Those with low powered scopes had some trouble with the small aiming marbles.
The next shoot is this Sunday at 10am and will be at ordinary targets.
As the name suggests, smallbore is restricted to .22 calibres only.
All shooting is bench-rested with the club providing stands if shooters don’t have their own.
It is also restricted to mid to low velocity bullets.
All rifles are fitted with scopes and as shooters get oloder, the scopes get bigger and better.
The club can also accommodate shooters who want to do the true lie down Smallbore.
Most of the older shooters have trouble getting up and down again.
