Competition was fierce between the 64 starters, especially in the handicap divisions which saw some excellent low scoring.
John Green led home the A grade players in the scratch section with a fine 75 off the stick.
While happy to win, Green was disappointed after finishing his round as he left a number of shots out on the course.
He can be pleased with his effort on the par five 7th hole after sinking a tough 12 foot putt across the gradient for an excellent eagle.
After hitting his tee shot down the middle-left of the fairway, green put a good swing on a five iron to reach the green in two and the putt looked in straight off the putter face.
One of Green’s playing partners last Saturday, Robert Cheney, won the A grade handicap division after shooting a fine 68 nett.
Cheney played consistent golf all day to enjoy a very good round and claim the win.
He said after the round that he may look to continue hitting with the same players as they really helped him shoot such a good score.
Tim Lassere went very close to claiming a double in B grade after he won the scratch with a very good 80 off the stick.
Lassere’s 68 nett was equal best handicap score in the grade also.
However, he was pipped by Dub Rogers via the countback system for the handicap award.
It was just as close in the C grade handicap section as Ian Ward managed the win by defeating Rod Luyt via a countback after both players recorded nett 63s.
Chris Goodie claimed the C grade scratch medal on the back of some good putting.
He posted a score of 88 with his 25 putts enough to secure the Griffins Leading Edge putting competition as well.
There was some consolation for Luyt who picked up the Veterans Medal for his 63 nett.
Ball winners were 63 Rod Luyt, 64 Brent Tucker, 67 Malcum Cunningham, John Pearce and Dave Harwood, 68 Peter Boschman, Laurie Wakefield and Tim Lassere, 69 Jack Cole and John Green.
In the nearest the pins, Mitch McGlashan struck a nice tee shot on the Idle-Rite Tyrepower 1st hole to finish only 436cm away from the cup.
Warren Blatch finished nearest on the Griffins Leading Edge 4th hole when his tee shot came to rest only 168cm from the pin.
John Green birdied the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole from 52cm away after a fine tee shot.
Laurie Wakefield had a good look at a birdie of his own on the Harvey Norman 11th hole when his tee shot came to rest at only 282cm from the flag.
On the tough Westlime 15th hole, Robert Cheney claimed the two balls after hitting his tee shot to 900cm.
As part of the best-in-two-shot final holes of each nine, the Parkes Ready Mix Concrete 9th proved a difficult task for the members to hit.
Cheney backed up his shot on the 15th to be the only player to hit the green in two on the 9th.
He was 1000cm from the pin.
The Parkes Heavy Mechanical Repairs 18th did not prove as tough with Allan Jewell claiming the two balls after hitting his second to 177cm.
Unfortunately for Jewell he had to settle for par after missing his birdie putt.
Saturday was also the final of the Betta Home Living Medal of Medals and Griffins Leading Edge Putter of Putters competitions.
The Medal of Medals was won by Chris Goodie while John Green capped off a good day by claiming the Putter of Putter award.
The two awards were contested by players who had won a handicap medal or putting competition since March this year.
