ADELAIDE (Won Cox Plate) Remarkable win by world-class galloper coming from last and unleashing an almost sustained 1200-metre run. Spell now, set for the Championships in Sydney in the autumn and then off to Royal Ascot.

FAWKNER (2nd Cox Plate) Knuckled at the start. Led the charge before the home turn in an outstanding Melbourne Cup trial. Just beaten by a superior horse.

SILENT ACHIEVER (3rd Cox Plate) By far her best run for the spring but no Melbourne Cup. Will return to New Zealand to be prepared for the autumn.

SIDE GLANCE (4th Cox Plate) Another brave run from the globe-trotting campaigner. Will attempt back-to-back Mackinnon Stakes wins.

FORETELLER (5th Cox Plate) Typically honest effort by the veteran. May back up in the Mackinnon.

HAPPY TRAILS (6th Cox Plate) Beaten less than a length in another brave effort. May back up in the Mackinnon.

CRITERION (7th Cox Plate)  Didn't handle the tight track, according to his jockey, and did well to finish so close. Maybe the Mackinnon.

SWEYNESSE (8th Cox Plate) Best of the three-year-olds, recorded fastest closing 200 metres, but no Victoria Derby. Off for a spell.

THE CLEANER (9th Cox Plate) Brave front-running effort at a brutal pace by the pride of Tasmania, which set up a thrilling finish. Off for a well deserved spell.

WANDJINA (10th Cox Plate) Worked too hard early. Spell.

SACRED FALLS (11th Cox Plate) Failed to run the distance as his rider feared.

ROYAL DESCENT (12th Cox Plate) Lame in the off-foreleg. Will spell.

ALMALAD (13th Cox Plate) Busy winter-spring caught up with him and was a beaten horse 1000 metres out. Will spell.

GUEST OF HONOUR (Last Cox Plate) Failed to finish. Vet examination showed no abnormality but his recovery will be monitored.

PRINCE OF PENZANCE (Won Moonee Valley Cup) Came from last to win thanks to a fearless ride that earned the jockey a suspension. Now 41st  in order into the Melbourne Cup and even a two-kilogram penalty will only elevate him to 37th, so a long shot to get a start.

LE ROI (2nd Moonee Valley Cup)  Had no answer to the finish of the winner but fought on well. Is 54th in Melbourne Cup order and will need to win the Lexus on Saturday to force his way into the field.

AU REVOIR (3rd Moonee Valley Cup) Led, outsprinted in sound Australian debut. Sure to be improved by the run. The extra prizemoney elevates him to 27th, above Lidari, who is owned in the same interests.

EPINGLE (4th Moonee Valley Cup) Finished her race off well enough. Queen Elizabeth Stakes would be a suitable target.

PRECEDENCE (5th Moonee Valley Cup) Copped backwash of interference on the home turn when Albonetti lost  his rider.  Is 22nd in order and guaranteed a fourth Melbourne Cup start.

OPINION (6th Moonee Valley Cup) Disappointing from the favourite and better suited at Flemington. Is 26th in order into the Melbourne Cup before second declarations on Monday.

BLACK TYCOON (8th Moonee Valley Cup) Riding tactics questioned when he settled outside the leader contrary to his normal racing pattern. Perth Cup winner racing well below his best form. Is 23rd in order into the Melbourne Cup if connections choose to press on.

MOONOVERMANHATTAN (Won Vase) Strong on-pace effort to win with authority in a sound Victoria Derby trial.

ATMOSPHERE (2nd Vase) Loomed up on the turn and was strong to the line. Still a maiden but gives every sign the 2500 metres of the Victoria Derby will be ideal.

GO INDY GO (3rd Vase) Was doing her best work late, with closing sectionals of 23.65 and 12.03 for the last 400 and 200 the second best in great trial for the VRC Oaks.

CHIVALRY (5th Vase) Failed to run a strong 2050 metres. Not nominated for the Derby.

BONDEIGER (7th Vase) Came from last at the 400, his closing sectionals of 23.46 and 11.95 were the best of the race and a good Derby pointer.

SAN PADRE (8th Vase) Didn't finish off as strongly as expected from a Derby viewpoint. Came home in 23.92 and 12.35.

LUMOSTY (Won Fillies Classic) Stroll in the park for her, racing outside the leader and clearing out before the home turn.  An Oaks run beckons, and may be third of Oaks runners for trainer Robert Smerdon to join stablemates Fontein Ruby and Crafty.
