Parkes Shire Council is partnering with NetWaste and Chemsal to offer a safe and easy disposal service to residents for unwanted or out-of-date household chemicals.
Parkes is one of 14 councils in the NetWaste region participating in this important program.
Hazardous household chemicals that are eligible for collection include items such as pesticides, paint, garden chemicals (eg. weed killers), solvents (eg. paint stripper), house chemicals (eg. bleach and detergents), smoke detectors, fluorescent lightglobes and tubes, household batteries, old gas bottles, and fire extinguishers.
Local residents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of unwanted chemicals from their garden shed and house as councils typically can't accept these items on an ongoing basis.
Collections are being held during October and November, with the collection for Parkes at Parkes Shire Council's Works Depot, Thornbury Street, from 8am to 11am next Thursday, October, 30 (see advertisement page 8)..
