Parkes woman, Liz Byrne has achieved a special part of history by being elected president of the Parkes Bowling and Sports Club.

She is the first female leader of the club in its 94 years history (it was founded in 1920).
The annual meeting saw former chairperson, Ray Jones step down after five years and Liz was the only nomination to take over the reins.
Liz joined the club in 2002 as a member of the Womens Bowling Club.
She has held various positions within the club and became a board member in 2007.
She has since held the positions of Secretary (five years) and Deputy Chairperson (past six years).
Liz is also a selector of the Womens Bowling Club.
The annual meeting saw the retirements of Mr Jones, Bernie Mitchell and Maureen Stone (after nine years), with Steve Ryan, Bruce Orr and John O’Malley returned as Directors.
New Board members are Tony Byrne, Mick Blunt and Phil Betts.
The club has 600 members.
