Ray White Real Estate and Radio Station 2PK have come on board with sponsorship for the competition which will take place during the afternoon from 2.30pm.
There is an untapped pool of local talent in our community and busking is a great way of showing your performance skills.
Busking can take place at any time during the festival with judging for the competition to take place on Friday afternoon.
A number of buskers from out of town have indicated their interest in taking to the streets during the festival however there is a lot of young talent in Parkes and it would be great to see them take part – you do not have to perform country (in the busking competition there is a category for the best non-country performer!)
No matter what style of music or street performance you do, you are most welcome to perform during the festival.
The winner of the busking competition will receive prizemoney, trophy and a small guest spot on the Festival Friday evening Concert.
The runner-up will also receive cash and trophy and there is a special prize for the busker judged best non-country.
The Festival Friday contains a full programme starting with the Poets Corner commencing 8.30am, welcoming all budding poets to recite and will take place outside Alexander’s Café.
The action then moves to Cooke Park with a Walk-up Talent Quest at 10.30am, to be conducted in sections for junior and seniors as well as non-competitive walk-ups and guest performers, all this before the actual busking competition gets underway at 2.30pm.
Following the busking competition a Festival Country Concert will take place in the Starlight Lounge of the Services Club with a great line-up of guest artists headed by 2012 X-Factor finalist Justin Standley, the Wayne Ryder Band, Melissa Bajric, Steve Kelleher, Leather & Lace, Country Keys & Strings, Jim Williams 2013 CTS winner and commences at 7.30pm.
