Mayor Ken Keith presented Ella her certificate at the last council meeting in the company of councillors, staff, fellow trainees and Skillset representatives Ben Ruddy (Acting Business Manager) and Kristy Grenaway (Business Consultant).
It is the perfect confidence booster for Ella as she prepares to undertake next month’s HSC exams.
Ella, the daughter of Doug and Maria Miller, completed a Certificate II in Business whilst working with the Technology and Corporate Services Department.
During her time with council, Ella learned the full range of service delivery functions to the community.
She also gained an understanding of Library Services, Family Day Care, Visitor Information and Tourism and received exposure to the Planning and Engineering services.
Mr Owen Jensen (Chief Financial Officer) extended his congratulations to Ella on her award.
“Ella undertook all tasks asked of her without hesitating,” Mr Jensen said. “She was always punctual and had a genuine interest in learning new skills.
“Ella had the confidence to undertake her regular duties without supervision and was not afraid to ask for help when needed.”
Mr Jensen said all council’s administration centre staff were proud of Ella.
“Particularly the way she applied herself to her work and studies for this traineeship alongside her studies for her HSC.
“She was an asset to our team and we enjoyed working with her.”
He also thanked Trudy Floyd who mentored Ella throughout her traineeship.
