This was evident by the magnificent community response to last Saturday’s 60th birthday celebrations.
For three hours the centre was abuzz as families - both current and past - along with friends of PECC enjoyed the activities or socialised and reminisced of years gone by.
While the day was planned mainly as a celebration, a wonderful response to the cake stall and raffle realised more than $2000.
This money will be used to further the centre’s playground project.
Children had their faces painted, got to sit in the driver’s seat of the police, fire brigade and RFS vehicles, had fun on the jumping-castle, looked at the sun through telescopes under the supervision of members of the Parkes Astronomical Society and partook in fun experiments with CSIRO staff from The Dish.
The crowd joined in singing Happy Birthday as four generations of the Norman family - headed by Mrs Joyce Norman and accompanied by great granddaughter Stephanie McNaughton - cut the celebration cake. Also present were Joyce’s daughter Wendy Yeo, grand-daughter Kristy Yeo and grandson Ben McNaughton.
Visitors took the opportunity to tour the centre.
