Simple mistakes and, in particular, handing errors cost the greens, who eventually went down 42-24 at Dubbo’s No.1 Oval .
“We showed up and had a crack, you can’t really ask for much more,” Staniforth said.
“Dubbo played very well, congratulations to them they deserved it in the end.
“They played good attacking footy, in the right spirit too and we just didn’t create enough space or chances.”
Emus’ skipper went on to credit ’Roos’ rolling maul, before commenting on his side’s remarkable turnaround from last in 2013, to second in 2014.
“It was pretty huge, but in the end you need to win the grand final or it doesn’t mean much,” he said.

“In saying that we’ve come a long way since 2013, not just in ones but all the way through the club.
“Our second grade side deserves recognition too, congratulations to them, and most of the boys should be around next year which is great.”
Staniforth said the greens could expect to be strong again in 2015.
“The thing about good clubs is they generally have a strong first and second grade side, which we did this year,” he said.
“We should have a similar top grade side next year, and we have plenty of boys pushing for ones from twos, and even threes this season.
“Hopefully that continues, and we can keep developing. Today was disappointing, but there is plenty of positives from this season.”
